COOK

Cook. That simple four letter word carries so many meanings from a process of food preparation involving heat; someone who prepares food for eating; to occur, happen, perform, concoct, improvise, why even to falsify or doctor and lastly to ruin one irretrievably as in to cook one's goose! Cook is a very layered word. For the most part cook. create. curate. focuses on the preparation of food even though the implications could be far reaching.

I began to cook when I was about 4 years old at my grandmother's side following her hands-on instruction on how to make cornbread. Her recipe was pretty simple and very similar to the following handwritten recipe of Kathryn Windham Tucker's

I am still making cornbread and I don't put sugar in it!
